Our Practice in Wichita

Dr. Alisa Nola is a Wichita local excited to serve her hometown. During optometry school, she was diagnosed with a binocular vision problem that caused frequent headaches. This was a ‘lightbulb’ moment as her diagnosis explained many of her reading struggles even though she excelled in school.

Dr. Nola believes vision is more than seeing 20/20 on an eye chart. She enjoys educating patients about their vision and providing individualized eye care to children and adults.

She received her Bachelor’s degree at Wichita State University (Go Shockers!) and her Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. Her passion for providing care for pediatrics and those affected by brain injuries led her to complete her residency training in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation in Minnesota.

Dr. Nola dedicated nearly 4 years of patient care in San Antonio, where she treated hundreds of patients with learning disabilities, strabismus, amblyopia, difficulty with reading, double vision, and head injuries.

Outside of patient care, Dr. Nola is passionate about serving her community through a local church. She also loves to adventure outdoors and hike at national parks. Her favorite traveling activity is watching the sunset on a beach or in the mountains. She’s frequently found at local coffee shops with friends and family on weekends.

Dr. Nola has dedicated her learning and specialty care by completing her fellowships with the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and the American Academy of Optometry. She is also a proud member of the Kansas Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the College of Optometrists in Vision Development.

Certifications & Training

• Fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development: Optometrists designated as a Fellow of COVD (College of Optometrists in Vision Development) are board certified. The certification identifies fellows offering quality clinical services in behavioral and developmental vision care, optometric vision therapy, and vision rehabilitation.
• Fellow of the American Academy of Optometrists (FCOVD and FAAO): Optometrists who earn the designation of Fellows of the Academy are evaluated based on high standards of professional performance. About 10% of practicing optometrists in the US are qualified as Fellows of the American Academy of Optometry.

Gentry is one of our vision therapists and is excited to welcome you and your family to Eye Connect Vision Therapy! Gentry has a passion for working with patients to help their vision reach its fullest potential.

From participating in vision therapy as a child, Gentry recognizes the life-changing qualities that vision therapy can bring to each patient’s life, adults and children alike. She partners with Dr. Nola to create and plan an individualized program for each patient. Gentry loves the connection that she creates with her patients each week!

In her free time, Gentry enjoys playing video games, working outside in her garden, and spending time with her husband and son.

Certifications & Training

• Emergent Vision Therapy Training Certification: The certification requires a minimum of 3 months of in-depth curriculum and evaluations endorsed by the College of Optometrists and Vision Development (COVD).
